Joey Andrews is a L/L 2008 1B/P from Matoaca HS in Chesterfield, VA. A LH hitter at the plate, Joey showed above ave hs bat speed and solid hand strength with ave hs power. He has a lead off hitter type approach with good loading action and a line drive, contact type swing. He does tend to sweep the bat. Joey likes to use the gaps. He should continue to get stronger and with some mechanical adjustments, should be a good hitter down the road. Joey posted 8.61- 6.06- 5.22 60/40/h to 1st times. At 1B he showed 66(1B) arm velocity across the infield. Joey has ave hs glove and does use his feet well. Joey shows soft hands when fielding and is agile with low hops. FB has good run and is hard to pick up from his slinging arm action. CB is a sweeping type with long depth. Competes and wants to throw inside. | Jackie Bradley is a 2008 OF at Prince George HS in Prince George, VA. Jackie posted a 7.45 sixty time and 5.22 40 yd time. Semi slow field to run on makes us think he should be at 7 flat or below real soon. He is a outfielder and shows much better range than mid 7 sixty time leads you to believe. Jackie has a medium frame and thin tone and is quick to get underway. He has long galloping strides in the OF and covers a lot of ground. On the bases he is a threat to run and goes 1st to 3rd quickly. A smart baserunner who has worked to develop very good instincts on the bases. Jackie is a LH hitter with a short, quick stroke and very good bat speed. Shows good power inside and has a lead off type approach. Hits a lot with his weight on his front foot which leads to a lot of gb's, but with his quick first step out of the box, he will beat out a lot of gb's. Profile frame and actions with high draft potential. Matt showed good run on his fastball and a curveball with easy rolling action . Matt's fastball was 76 to 77mph, and his curveball was 64 to 65 . Matt has a long lean body and a smooth delivery which will add more velocity to his fastball down the road. | Andrew Deal is a R/R 2008 P/OF from LC Bird HS in Chester, VA. Andrew is a RHP with young and developing frame. Tall frame is very good for leverage potential. Andrew showed a 84-86 mph FB with ave hs life and good command, a 70-74 mph CB with good depth and good spin. CB should develop into very good next level pitch. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with normal effort and he does tend to fall off to the side at release. Andrew has a balanced delievery with a high elbow take away and good arm speed. Cuts fb and shows some nice run. John shows ave hs arm speed and velocity. His frame has room to fill out and he will add velo as he adds strength to his lower half. Mechanincs work, however he does show a shoulder tilt from a high arm slot. An adjustment to a lower arm slot could have big impact on balance and quickness in his arm. His feet are active and get him into position to receive the ball. George has very good body control and can make plays to both side with very good range. Excellent defensive skills. By getting more rythm in his swing, he should be able to tap into more power and maintain better balance. Aggressive in the box and will attack the ball. On the mound he posted 85fb, 69cb, 77sl, and 77 ch. George is a quick athlete with nice armside sink on fb. He knows how to pitch and moves the ball around and changes speed on all his pitches. Nice slider with late action, pitch looks like fb comming in. A RHP who will give you many different lloks off 4 different pitches. It will be hard for hitters to settle in on him. Addition of velo on FB would really move him to another level of prospect. Brandon has broad shoulders developing tone. He throws from an ave 3/4 arm slot with balanced delivery, at times, and does have room to make mechanical adjusments. | Danny Hultzen is a L/L 2008 LHP/1B attending St Albans and living in Bethesda, MD. Danny is a primary LHP and shows a solid approach in the box from the LH side. Showed 79-81fb, 70-71cb, and 67-68 ch. Danny throws from a mid 3/4 arm slot and has + movment on his pitches. Tall lean upper body and narrow shoulders. Danny has smooth online mechanics and his arm works very well. At the plate Danny is starting to develop strength and you still will see his bat drag through the zone on a few swings. Danny has a young body that will only get better and stronger. Danny will see his biggest jumps when he lears to hit the ball where it should be hit in the zone. | Blaine Jones is a R/R 5'11/160 lbs 2008 MIF/P at Midlothian HS in Midlothina , VA. In the infield Blaine showed ave hs arm strength and ave hs footwork to the ball. Blaine recieves many balls outside of his feet and tends to be late in getting glove in position to recieve the ball. He has above ave hs arm strength and tends to fall off to the side at relase. Blaine would have much better carry on his throws his he worked through his throw and continued to move toward his target after release. Blaine is a primary middle infielder who also pitches. He showed 75 to 73mph fastball and a 64mph curveball. He tends the throw with a low elbow arm action and pushes his curveball too much. His fastball does have good sinking action and his arm arch is very short on the backside. Mechanicaly, he has several violent points in his delivery and shows a head snap at release. Zach does tend to let the ball get in on his hands too much and he will increase his stock as he attacks the ball more on defense. Tools play at 3b. He showed 81fb and 59 cb. CB catches guys flat footed and will need to add more velo. CB is more deception pitch with high angle comming in and big drop at the end. CB is a not a swing and miss pitch it is more of a called third strike type pitch. Taylor throws from a mid 3/4 arm slot with a slight stab on the back side with good arm speed and online mechanincs. Taylor tends to fly open too soon and cost himself some command. When is mechanincs are lined up, he works lows in the zone with very good life on fb to each side of the plate. He is a strong athlete who is continuing to develop. There is much more there and with continued mechanincal development look for very good velo down the road. A RH hitter , he has good balance and solid hand strength for his age. He is balanced in his approach at the plate but does tend to chase pitches. No load approach with short, quick bat path. | Steven Murphy is a R/R 6'0"/175 2007 RHP/C at Kempsville HS in Virginia Beach, VA. Steven was still recovering from a broken bone around his eye and did not throw in the games. In a bull pen session on the mound he showed 81fb, 71cb, and 75ch. We had seen Steven at 85-86 three weeks earlier and that veleocity should bounce back quickly. Steven is a primary catcher with very good mechanics and arm action on the mound. If you did not know he was a catcher you would think he was a primary pitcher. The most interesting thing about Steven is his easy arm action and command of the zone. | Will Roberts is a 6'4-165 lbs. 2008 RHP from Maggie Walker HS in Richmond, VA. On the mound, Will has very good mound presence with a big frame and broad shoulders. Will has a whippy arm action and throws from an extended 3/4 arm slot. Will has polished mechanics and has a good arm swing on the backside with a little stabing action that doesn't slow arm down. | Kenny Stoneback is a R/R 2008 6'0"/182 lbs MIF at Coloinial Heights HS in Colonial Heights, VA. Kenny can hit and showed very good hitting tools at event. A RH hitter with very good bat speed, Kenny has a line drive swing plane with a short path to the ball with outstanding leverage. Stays behind the ball well and uses the whole field. Raw power is there and should show in games in the future. Kenny is a MIF who also threw from the OF. Kenny showed solid 78(if) velocity and 79(of) arm strength from the OF with good carry on his throws. In the infield he showed good out front glove action with solid range to both side. Can improve quickness in release from the back hand side. Kenny's throws show solid carry through the bag and he uses his feet very well. Solid on double play turns. In the OF he has a solid release with good athletic actions. Kenny's throws have good backspin and good carry. His agility anf footwrok from the infield helps him get into position very well to recieve balls in the OF. Kenny posted 7.33 60 yd time and 5.13 40 yd time on a semi slow surface. | Daryl Stringfield is a R/R 6'4"/195 lbs. 2006 RHP from Sussex Central HS in Wakefield, VA. Daryl is a tall lean wiry atheltic pitcher with bigtime potential. His deliver and mechanincs are still developing and he shows outstanding raw arm strength. A project type pitcher who could be impact type arm really quick. His fb shows sing of some sink as well as armside run. He has a sweeping 10/4 type cb whci will might be used just for effect at the next level. On the mound, Daryl showed 88fb, 74sl, 73split, and 70ch. Daryl throws a combination of 5 different pitches and has a very athletic body. His mechanincs seem to be much better than we saw him early in the spring. Daryl worked out in the infield and showed 77(if) arm veleocity. A RH hitter with accidental power and a pitchers swing. Can hit long fly balls and drive some balls out of the park. Still learning to make adjustments to good live pitching. | Andrew Thomas is a 2008 C from St. Albans in McLean, VA. Behind the plate, Andrew posted pop times ranging from 2.14 to 2.27 with velocity range of 72-75 mph.
